I feel as though I cannot preach about honesty enough. I won’t sit and rant to you but let me say this, there is nothing that adds to the hurt worse than lying.
No one is perfect. We are going to mess up. If you end up hurting someone or if your mess up is something that effects someone else. Tell the truth. Why do we think that we are sparing someone by lying or sugar coating? Firstly, you will have to live with the guilt of lying. Secondly, there is a very good chance the truth will just come out on its own. And thirdly, you aren’t being fair to the other person or people involved.
I know it’s scary to think you might have to deal with the fact that you hurt someone’s feelings but if you truly care about someone you owe it to them to be honest.
And on the flip side of the situation, if someone confesses the truth to you and genuinely apologizes, consider forgiveness. There is nothing worse than a grudge. You need to remember that if you also care for the person who is being honest with you then you need to try and be as understanding as possible.
Love and understanding lead to more love, trust and understanding. Remember that it’s not the end of the world, that you’re not perfect and that you are just as capable of messing up as anyone else. Remember that to have any type of relationship, you need trust and to gain trust, you need honesty.
So in all,
Juste be honest
Juste be understanding
Juste love.
